Sli Cualann Athletics Club Launch New Running Series

The Wicklow Race Series is a new initiative by Sli Cualann AC to help local runners achieve their fitness goals in a social environment and to provide financial support to local clubs.
The running series will consist of two leagues of four races, with the first league starting at the end of January. The races are separated by only two weeks, providing participants with a compact, focused plan to improve their fitness early in the season.
The series will start in Rathdrum on January 28 with a run that will challenge participants over 5km. Two weeks later, round two will take place in Greystones with a 2 mile run. The series will move to Wicklow Town for the penultimate stage, where runners will take on the 3km distance at a course situated right by the sea. Roundwood is the venue for the series final on March 10. Participants will tackle a 2 mile course in one of the highest villages in Ireland before attending the awards ceremony, which will take place shortly after the race.
Each run is hosted by the local club, all of which are members of Sli Cualann. The registration fees (5 euro for Athletics Ireland members, 7 euro for non-members) will go towards supporting the local club. Therefore, the more athletes that participate at each race, the greater the financial support that will go to the local club.
The 2016 Wicklow Race Series is a great way to build your fitness while contributing to the local community. For more details on the series, visit SliCualann.com.
