Pipe Band Recruitment

The Michael Dwyer Pipe Band, Aughrim is putting on a recruitment drive in 2016. The band is now entering its 70th year in existence and is looking to expand upon its recent success and carry forward in to the future. Joining the band is a cost free venture as the equipment, uniforms and expertise is happily supplied by the members of the historic organisation. Volunteers of all ages and ability are welcome to join one of Aughrim’s oldest institutions. Church of the Sacred Heart, Aughrim

Mass will be celebrated in the Church every Tuesday at 8.00.p.m. during the holy season of Lent.  All are welcome.

GAA News

Aughrim club would like thank Eugene, Pat, Willie and Christy for all their work and dedication to the senior team for the last number of years and hope  not to have seen the last of them but now we turn a new chapter and would like to welcome Trevor  Doyle  to the  club . The gym sessions seem to be a hit at the moment, so keep up the good work lads. Senior training starts back on Tuesday – all attend please. Looking forward to the year ahead.  Some ladies are making enquires about our recently opened GAA gym in the complex. Interested people should get their names to Tara at 0862582758 so that an induction night can be arranged. The fee would be 30 euro membership of Aughrim GAA for insurance purposes plus €30 gym fee.

Active Retirement

On Tuesday last we had our AGM and it was great that there was such good turn out. The new Officers .and Committee were voted in and an exciting programme for the coming months was announced.  The big change is that in future we will have our meetings on the first Tuesday of month at 10.30am. This change was unanimously voted for.  Our Spa Day will be on Tuesday, February 23rd at Brooklodge – 60 Euro to include lunch.  Are you interested in a night of Drama on Friday, March 4th  in Rathangan? If so, contact Bridget at 087 0563963.  At our March meeting we will have a presentation on Interior Design by Colette Ward.  On Tuesday, April 5th instead of our monthly meeting – the Pavilion will not be available – we will have an outing to the Ashdown Hotel, Gorey for Afternoon Tea.  Light exercises will commence on Monday, 18th April – more details at a later date.

Market

Please join us for Valentine treats at Aughrim Town & Country Market next Saturday from 10am – 2pm at the Pavilion, Rednagh Road. Enjoy some tastings and meet up with friends in the Market Cafe.  A great selection of local produce available including; fresh meat & vegetables, farm fresh eggs, freshly baked bread and cakes and homemade preserves.

Athletics

Athletics is continuing every Monday and working out very successfully despite our bad weather. Training has been taking place both in and out of the Aughrim Sports complex and we haven’t had to disappoint any of our eager children who come out every week at 7pm. All children welcome age 4 years and over and at a cost of 2 euro a week.

Sports Complex AGM.

The AGM of the Aughrim Community Sports and Leisure Association Ltd, (The Sports Complex) will be held in the Sports Complex on Thursday 18th February, 2016 beginning at 8.30pm. All affiliated clubs are requested to ensure that their delegates attend.

 

Lotto
The numbers: 4, 8, 11 and 12 were drawn in the Sports club lotto on Monday February 8th Match three winners were: Des Burton, Sheila Keogh, John Keenan and Joey Kavanagh. There was no jackpot winner.   The jackpot is €6600.

Market
