Fianna Fáil candidate for Wicklow Jennifer Cuffe has blasted the Government’s broadband plans for the county.
“The persistent neglect of Wicklow in terms of broadband provision is damaging employment growth in the county. Businesses across the county have been hindered by the poor quality broadband that is not up to suitable modern standards. Wicklow is one of the most beautiful counties in Ireland and hotels, B&Bs and guesthouses rely on modern broadband networks to operate and attract tourists to the county.
“This Government has under-invested in Wicklow for far too long. Over 16,500 homes and businesses in Wicklow (Over 26% of total premises) will have to wait up until 2021 for next generation broadband services through state intervention under the National Broadband Plan.
“If Fianna Fáil are elected we will prioritise investment in broadband and halt this two tier recovery taking place, by creating a fair recovery for all.”
