€105,000 to repair and protect Arklow’s North Quay – Harris

Wicklow Fine Gael Minister and General Election candidate Simon Harris has welcomed the allocation of €105,000 to Wicklow County Council for the repair and protection of North Quay in Arklow.

The funding is part of a national funding package announced by the Department of Agriculture, Food & the Marine to carry out repair works following recent storms and severe weather.

Commenting on this development Minster Harris stated: “Unfortunately the severe weather and storms that we experienced this winter have caused damage to piers, harbours and slipways around the country. The Government was very clear in its commitment to assist communities which were affected.

“I am very pleased that Wicklow County Council has been allocated €105,000   towards the protection of the old walls at North Quay in Arklow.

“It is thanks to our recovering economy that we can make these kinds of investments in our piers and harbours. They are so crucial to our fisheries, tourism and marine leisure sectors and they are of fundamental importance in terms of providing access for local people,” concluded Minister Harris.
