Fine Gael TD for Wicklow and Minister of State Simon Harris has urged community groups and voluntary organisations providing health services, information and support for various disabilities and illnesses to apply for the National Lottery funding.
Eligible groups and organisations can be those which provide health services to specific client groups (e.g. people with an intellectual and/or physical disability), providing information and support for various disabilities and illnesses or they could also be groups with a specific interest (e.g. providing equipment for hospitals).
National Lottery funding is to be allocated through the Department of Health for once-off grants to these groups or organisations.
Further information can be found at www.health.gov.ie. The closing date for receipt of application forms is 12 noon on 6th May 2016.
Speaking on this matter, Minister Harris stated: “I would urge many of the fantastic health orientated groups in communities throughout Wicklow to apply for this funding.
“Through my work as a TD for Wicklow, and also as a disability advocate, I am well aware of the many hard-working groups who fall into the categories that are eligible to receive this funding.
“I hope that through this tranche of National Lottery funding many groups and organisations will be in a position to enhance and further develop their vital services,” concluded Minister Harris.
