St. Patrick’s Club notes – 1st February 2016

We are very pleased to confirm that Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael Aogán Ó Fearghail and his wife Frances will attend our Annual Dinner in The Grand Hotel this Saturday, February 6th. It is imperative that all club members make a big effort to attend to honour our distinguished guests. Doors open at 7.30pm with dinner at 8pm sharp. Tickets are €30 each, admittance with a ticket only. You can purchase tickets from Team Managers, Committee Members, Dooley Poynton Auctioneers, Fitzpatricks Bar and the Grand Hotel.

Well done to the County Senior Men on a win over Waterford this Sunday in Aughrim, 0-13 to 1-8. Four of our Senior players are part of the Wicklow team, Dean Healy, Padraig Higgins, Conor Ffrench and John Crowe.

The County Senior Ladies also beat Antrim on Sunday in Bray Emmets, 1-15 to 3-06. We have five of our Senior Ladies on the team: Niamh McGettigan, Rose Fagan, Clodagh Fox, Niamh O’Brien and Eleanor Dunne. Congratulations to Rose who was named the Vice Captain of the County team.

Best of luck to both teams this year.

Cathriona McConnell

We were delighted to have Cathriona McConnell of Donaghmoyne and Monaghan, All Star Senior Ladies footballer, at our St Patrick’s Ladies Juvenile Presentation Night on Friday evening in the Clubhouse. Cathriona is the proud holder of 4 All Ireland Club Titles, 7 Ulster Senior Club Titles and 5 Ulster Senior County Titles having won 13 County Club Championships in a row. It was a special occasion as Cathriona presented the medals to our own All Ireland Winners Division 1 Feile winners and our U12 and U16 Winners. It was a great night for all of our teams.

The Ladies teams plan to resume training on 27th February. The Management in place for 2016:

Indoor Hurling for our U10s commenced last Friday 29th January in Rathnew Soccer Club. It will be on each week from 78pm, for boys born in 2006 and 2007. New players are welcome, contact Alan on 086 2784498.

Indoor Bowls has started back! It’s on every Monday and Wednesday at 8pm in the Clubhouse. New members are welcome.

Our 2016 Last Man Standing competition commenced this weekend with the return of the National Football Leagues. Thanks to everyone who has entered. A list of which team everyone selected has been emailed around to the participants. A few people have already fallen on the first week, but best of luck to everyone else remaining in the competition!

There was no winner of this week’s Club Lotto Jackpot of €7,000. Numbers drawn were 1, 9, 13 and 17. The bonus number was 23. 10 people managed to draw 3 numbers sharing the prize of €250.

The club is urgently looking for more Lotto sellers to head out on a Saturday night in Wicklow Town. We have vacancies available due to recent retirements. If you feel you can give up your time to help we would be delighted to hear from you, with groups of 4 going out once every six weeks.

Any player/member/supporter who would like to be in our club lotto every week and not miss out can do so by signing up to a standing order. The cost is only €8 per month and when paying by this method you are entered in 2 draws free of charge. Our current jackpot stands at €7,100. The Pitch Coordinator Eddie Leonard (086) 834 9272 has advised that signs were put up this week advising pitch closure due to repairs carried out last October and the continuous wet conditions which is slowing up progress. Both pitches are closed at present. The pitches will be monitored on a week to week basis.

The 2016 Scór Sinsear Quiz County Final will be held in the St Patrick’s GAA clubhouse of in Wicklow town on Friday 5th February. The Quiz Final will begin at 8.30pm and the County Cultural Committee invites each club to enter at least one team. Team members should be 17 or over on January 1st 2016 and there should be four members per team. The winning team on the night will go on to represent Co. Wicklow at the All-Ireland Quiz Final in the Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney on Saturday 2nd April.
