Gardai have launched a fresh appeal for information following a vicious assault and burglary on a pensioner in Shillelagh on Wednesday night.
Three men entered the house shortly after 9 pm and beat the man who in in his 80’s with a bar or a bar-like object.
They stole a small sum of money and jewellery before they made their getaway.
The man is currently in hospital where his condition is described as stable.
The three men are described as being of average height, two of slim build and one of stocky build and all in their 20s to 30s.
All three had their faces covered for the duration of the horrific incident which happened at Ballynultagh.
Gardai are asking anyone that may have seen three people acting suspiciously in the area prior to the incident or anyone that has information to contact them at Baltinglass Garda station on 059 6482610 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
