St. Patrick’s Club notes March 15

St. Pats Ladies made Club history on Sunday when they fielded both Junior and Senior teams in their respective leagues. The Senior’s travelled to Pearse Park where they beat Arklow by a fine score of 5-14 to 0-04. It was a great win for the team, carrying on from their success in 2015. The Junior team, managed by Linda Wynne, Brian McSorley, Mick Kavanagh, Patrice Evans and Dave Fitzgerald, faced Enniskerry away. Unfortunately it wasn’t their day, losing by 7 points, 1-10 to 2-14. With it being their first game as a team, it was an all round great team performance and we look forward to an exciting season ahead. If you’re interested in joining, contact Linda Wynne 087 624 5130.

Hard luck to two of our Senior Ladies who both played in this weekend’s Giles and Lynch Cup games. Sarah Delahunt played on the IT Carlow team who lost out by a point to Mary Immaculate in the Giles Cup Semi-Final. DIT captained by Niamh McGettigan fell short at the final hurdle of the Lynch Cup when they faced a strong University of Limerick side. We hope to see both girls up there again next year.

Hard luck to the County Wicklow U21 squad with club players Ian Murphy & Ruairi Marron, who lost to Laois in the high scoring refixed Leinster U21 Championship Quarter Final in Portlaoise on Wednesday Night. Ruairi coming on as a sub scored 1-01 with the final Score Laois 0-20 Wicklow 3-09.

Another tough day at the office for the County Senior Footballers with club players Dean Healy, John Crowe, Padraig Higgins and Conor Ffrench been on the wrong side of another high scoring game in Wexford. Final Result Wexford 4-23 – Wicklow 3-14.

Our Club is running a Sports Event Prediction competition again this year. This competition is being run as a fundraiser both by our adult mens and adult ladies football teams to help with their running costs and expenses. The players themselves will have competition entry forms from this week. If you would like to enter the competition you can visit our Facebook page or alternatively get one directly from the players over the next few weeks. All support is greatly appreciated and welcomed. The entry fee is €10 and the closing date for receipt of entries is Friday 1st April.
There was no winner of this week’s Club Lotto Jackpot of €7,600. Numbers drawn were 4, 5, 8 and 13. The bonus number was 10. Three people managed to draw 3 numbers sharing the prize of €250; Bernice Lang, Hannah Carton and the Carolan family.

Thanks to our weekly Club Lotto we are able to support local organisations who do fantastic work in our community. Just recently we made a donation to Wicklow Cancer Support. The club has made similar donations to the Meals on Wheels and the Blue Dolphins. Supporting our club lotto will enable us to continue making donations to these fantastic organisations.

Any player/member/supporter who would like to be in our club lotto every week and not miss out can do so by signing up to a standing order. The cost is only €8 per month and when paying by this method you are entered in 2 draws free of charge. Our current jackpot stands at €7,600. If you’re interested either text 087 6214903 or email treasurer.stpatricks.wicklow@gaa.ie and we will contact you.
