COFFEE MORNING
 a coffee morning will be held in Jim and Ann Gilberts on tue 10th may ,9 to 5 to help offset the cost of bringing Dennis home from Chernobyl for his annual break , it is 30 years this year since the nuiclear meltdown in Chernobyl ,and this is Dennis 6th year coming to Askamore and this would not be possible without your support which is very much appreciated

Carnew St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2016

A massive thank you to all who helped to make the annual Carnew St. Patrick’s Day Parade a great success once again this year.

Congratulations to the Prize Winners:

Bio Grease Solutions Ltd. won the Most Entertaining Award.

O’ Sullivan’s of Motabower and the Burrow who won the Most Topical Award.

Scoil Aodán Naofa, Carnew who won the Best Youth Entry.

Whitewell Horse Farm who won the Best Walking Group.

Carnew TDC who won the new Prize for this year for Best 1916 themed float.

Carnew Library who won Best Window Display.

Carnew Musical Society and Kilrush Drama Group who won the Pat Doran Trophy for Best Overall Float.

 

Parade Grand Marshall, Mrs. Lizzie Kennedy presented the Prizes in Coláiste Bhríde after the parade where refreshments were provided for everybody.

Sincere thanks to all of the businesses and community groups in the area who provided support for the running of the parade. Congratulations and thank you to all who took part in the parade with fantastic and imaginative floats and thank you to all those who came out to enjoy the parade. 

Parish Mission.

 

St. Patrick’s Community mission team are leading a Parish Mission this week in St. Kevin’s Church, Tinahely. Main evening mission with talks, prayers and music at 7.30p.m. and Mass and talks at 9.30a.m. Monday to Thursday. The Mission will conclude on Friday evening with Mass at 7.30p.m. All are welcome.

TINAHELY WALKING CLUB

On Sunday May 1 the walk is at Glendalough. (Grade B, 18-20k, 5 hours). Meeting in Tinahely at 9.30 or at Visitors Car Park, Glendalough at 10.30

On Sunday May 8 the walk is at Avondale (Grade B/C, 12k, 3 hours). Meeting in Tinahely at 10.30.

Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food & drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear.

TINAHELY DUATHLON

The 6th Annual Tinahely Duathlon takes place on Sunday 1st May 2016. Participants of all abilities are invited to register for the event immediately. The course involves a 5km run, 20km cycle and a 3km run to finish. Entry fees are €25 for individuals and €45 for a team (1 runner & 1 cyclist). BINGO

The next bingo in St Brigid’s Hall, Carnew is Sunday 1st May at 2.30pm.

ROAD RUN

The Carnew Heritage clubs annual road run is on Sunday 15th May at 12 noon.

KNOCK

The annual pilgrimage to Knock from Carnew Community Care will take place on 14th – 15th May cost €130.00 which includes bus transport, overnight accommodation and full meals on Saturday. This is the last year Sister Mary’s knock will offer accommodation and it is unlikely that future pilgrimages to knock will take place  from Carnew Community Care. SYMPATHY

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Jim (Judge) Byrne, Newline who died during the week and was buried in Tomacork cemetery on Saturday after 2pm mass.

GET WELL

SPLIT THE POT

The winner of the Split the Pot for Scoil Aodan Naofa Carnew was Mikey Byrne, Tomacork View winning €259.

MONSTER CHARITY AUCTION

A monster charity auction in aid of Chillax Youth Café and Mischief Makers Parent and Toddler group will take place on Saturday 7th May  in Colaiste Bhride Carnew at 2pm, viewing the morning of the auction. Donations of any services and items in good condition, furniture, books, dvd’s, cd’s, fuel, logs, unwanted presents, electrical goods in working order, services of painting and decorating, plumbing, gardening and mechanical, call Carnew Training and Development Centre on 0539426555 or facebook Carnew Resourse Monster Auction, items can be collected.
