Funeral of teenager takes place this morning

Huge crowds are expected to turn today out for the funeral of a teenage girl, who died after collapsing at a Gaelic football match in Gorey last week.

14 year old Ciara Ryan was in training in Gorey on Thursday evening when she became unwell.

She was treated at the scene before being rushed to Wexford General Hospital where she was pronounced dead on Friday.

It’s understood she died of a suspected brain haemorrhage. Her funeral mass will take place this Monday morning at 11 o’clock in Saints Peter and Paul’s Church, in Kilanerin, with Burial afterwards in Limbrick Cemetery.

Cíara Ryan, Macoyle Upper, Inch, Gorey and formerly of Borleigh, Inch, Gorey. Loving daughter of Anto and Trish and sister of Éabha and Jack. Died April 8th at Wexford General Hospital. Deeply regretted by her loving mother and father, brother, sister, aunts, uncles, grandparents, relatives, friends and neighbours.

Cíara will be reposing at Flood’s Funeral Home, McDermott Street, Gorey, from 2.00pm to 7.00pm on Sunday. Removal will take place on Monday morning at 10.15am to S.S Peter & Paul’s Church, Kilanerin, for Funeral Mass at 11.00am. Burial afterwards in Limbrick Cemetery, Kilanerin.
