Avonmore Musical Society are celebrating with the AIMS President Colm Moules at the AIMS Choral Festival in New Ross.
The Arklow Society were thrilled to receive 3 AIMS Award Nominations for their recent production of the musical “Evita”.
Leah Penston was nominated for the first time for Best Actress for her portrayal of Eva Peron. Chris Currid who played Che was nominated for Best Male Singer. This is Chris’s fourth nomination and his second for Avonmore. He was previously nominated for playing the Beast in Avonmore’s “Beauty and the Beast”.
Stephen Acton who was directing his first show for Avonmore was nominated for Best Director, a great achievement for the young man from Gorey.
It was also a good day for Bray Musical Society who were nominated for Best Ensemble for their performance of “One for the Boys” from the Dolly Parton Musical “9 to 5”.
Also AIMS nominated in County Wicklow were Bill Stafford and Ellie Willoughby who played the lead roles in Carnew Musical Societies production “Me and My Girl”. Bill played the part of Bill Snibson and is nominated in the Best Actor category with Ellie Willoughby who played Sally being nominated for Best Female Singer. It was also a good day today for Carnew in the AIMS Choral Festival with their members winning the AIMS Musical Cameo Competition for their performance of “An English Gentleman”.
The AIMS Awards will be announced at a Gala Ball, which will be attended by 1200 people in the INEC in Killarney on Sat 18th June. Best Wishes to all the Nominees.
