Baby Alannah to be laid to rest in Greystones at 12 noon

By: William O’Toole

Baby Alannah, who was found dead at the Greenstar recycling facility at Fassaroe is to be laid to rest today.

The infant, who was discovered last week while a worker was sorting through recycling, will be laid to rest after a  funeral service at Redford Cemetery in Greystones this afternoon, at 12 noon.

Local Gardai said it was important that the baby was named and given some sort of identity before she was laid to rest.

The little girls mother has yet to come forward and Gardai are still concerned for her welfare.

Superintendent Pat Ward said : “We are renewing our appeal for mum or dad to come forward to seek whatever support we can give them.”

Post mortem results on her remains found that no harm was done to her and she might have died earlier than Gardai previously thought.
