PARISH MISSION

A week-long Parish Mission took place in St. Kevin’s Church, Tinahely 25th – 29th April last, with crowds turning out. Thanks to everyone from your community who  participated in our Parish Mission. 

This mission was a blessed and spiritual experience and a reminder of the love God has for each one of us. The parish mission was led by a group of young lay people of faithful, from St. Patrick’s Community, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim.

COOLFANCY STAGES PLAY FROM THE WEST
The Coolfancy Players will present Wake in the West, a three act comedy by Michael J. Ginnelly, for three nights ; Thursday 19th, Friday 20th and Saturday 21st May at 8pm in Coolfancy Hall. Directed by Noel Dalton, the comedy is set in the 1980s on the outskirts of a small west of Ireland town and tells the story of a series of unfortunate events surrounding the wake of Tom Healy. A great laugh is guaranteed for all who attend. Tickets are €10 and are available from Coolboy Post Office, Coolfancy National School and cast members. All proceeds will go towards redecorating the hall.

CARNEW EMMETS CAMOGIE CLUB

On the playing field, the various teams have been out in force.

The U12s hosted a blitz at home on April 22 and played in Knockananna last Friday night. They will also be heading to the GAA National Games Development Centre in Abbotstown for the Caman to Leinster 2016, which is always a great day out. Their League campaign will start on Friday against Aughrim.

The U14 League kicked off with a loss to Kiltegan and a walkover from Annacurrra. Their next match is on Monday, 9 May, against Donard-Glen. The girls also competed in the Feile qualifiers but, despite great heart, did not qualify in the finish.

The U16s are settling in to the League, but unfortunately lost out to a strong Bray Emmets side in their opening encounter. Their next match is on May 4 against Knockananna with the match against Kilcoole to be reorganised.

The Intermediates drew against Ballinacor in their opening League match on a scoreline of five points to Ballinacor’s 1-02. They’re up against Arklow on May 8.

The U8s and U10s’ first blitz is on May 14 in Avondale. They train on Tuesday evenings from 6.30-7.30pm. The U12s train every second Wednesday night, alternating with the football. So, next U12 camogie training is next Wednesnday night, May 11. U12 matches are on Friday nights.

U14 training is on Saturdays with matches on Monday nights. U16 training is on Sunday mornings with matches on Wednesday nights. And adult camogie training is on Thursday nights with matches on Sunday mornings.  

 

ROAD RUN

Carnew Heritage clubs annual road run will be held on Sunday 15th May at 12 noon from Carnew Mart, proceeds towards Parkinsons. All welcome to come along.

 

TINAHELY WALKING CLUB

On Sunday May 15 the walk as at Lugnaquilla (Grade A, 25k, All day). Meeting in Tinahely at 9.00.

Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food & drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear.
