West Wicklow Historical Society
The West Wicklow Historical Society’s next event is an ‘Evening Stroll’ in Hollywood on Wednesday 1 June starting from the Catholic Church at 7pm. It will be led by John Glennon.
The society’s Annual General Meeting was held on 5 May and the following were elected: Chairman – Noel Lyons; Hon. Secretary – Donal McDonnell; Hon. Treasurer – Phyllis Flanagan; PRO – Paul Gorry; Committee – Peadar Cullen, Michaela Davis, John Glennon, Tom Hanifan, P.J. Hanlon, Chris Lawlor & Maura O’Halloran.
More recently, the society took part in Dunlavin’s very impressive 1916 Commemoration parade on 8 May. Dunlavin hosted a very successful commemoration day, recreating the atmosphere of a century ago. The WWHS congratulates the organisers.
The WWHS is always pleased to welcome new members. The annual subscriptions for 2016 / 2017 begins now (€15 individual; €25 family / household). To join, contact one of the committee members above or come along to a WWHS event.

The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association
Eibhlin Bracken is hosting a ‘Drink Tea for MND’ to raise funds on June 24th. This event will take place from 10am – 12 noon in the Dunlavin Parish Centre. Any assistance or support that you can give would be greatly appreciated.

West Wicklow Cancer Support Group – Thursday 26th May at 7:30pm Coimin Centre, Blessington. Speaker: Helen Daly – Spiritual Teacher and Healer for the past 17 years. She comes from a background in Nursing, Counselling, Philosophy, Theology and Energy Healing. Theme: Healing For Difficult Times. All are welcome and feel free to bring a friend.
Dunlavin GAA U8/U10 Football Training – is back on Mondays at a new time of 6.30pm in the GAA field. U8/U10 HURLING training is back on Tuesdays at 6.30pm. U6 Nursery for both Hurling & Football is on Mondays at 6.30pm. Please check Dunlavin GAA facebook page for U12 Football updates. Membership must be paid up (€20 for the year) for kids to participate in 2016.
Dunlavin Festival of Arts will present Music from Movies and Musicals on June 18th in Deerings Barn, Milltown. The concert will feature the Ballymore Eustace Concert Band, Milltown & Gormanstown Singers with the DARA Quartet and Primary Schools Choir. Tickets €10 available from Mary at 087 1246193.
Funlavin is Back – And it’s better than ever!! Funlavin’s 5km, 10km races and 5km family walk will take place on Sunday, June 26th from 10am. There will be medals for the 5/10km races and kids on the family walk. Also a free Tech T-shirts for the first 100 to enter the races at www.popupraces.ie. All monies raised will be donated to our local St. Vincent de Paul and other Dunlavin causes (to be confirmed). Further details to follow

Set Dance Ceili
The Annual Maureen Dennis Memorial set Dance Ceili takes place on June 17th in the Imaal Hall, Dunlavin. Dancing 9.20pm till late. Music by Syl and Liz. Refreshments. All proceeds to St Brigid’s Hospice, The Curragh.

Geraldine Deay Memorial Crookstown 5k Loop.
The Crookstown 5k Loop will take place on Friday June 17th 2016. Registration at 6pm in the Crookstown Business Park , race commences at 7pm. The event will be followed by a BBQ. All proceeds will go to Breast Cancer Research
