A sit-in at Bray Municipal District buildings which began last Thursday afternoon, has continued over the weekend. Members of People Before Profit and two former residents of the recently closed Brighton Road Hostel for men in Bray have been protesting at the offices since last Thursday.
A statement from Wicklow County Council said the Council wishes to advise that two individuals arrived at the Bray Civic Offices, Main Street, Bray, on Thursday May 5th, at 2.30pm and have remained there since then.
Wicklow County Council also wishes to advise that contrary to some reports in the mainstream media and on social media, the two individuals involved have not been locked into the Council offices and are free to leave at any stage. Drinking water and toilets facilities are available to them.
An offer of emergency accommodation for Sunday 8th May was made to the two men and a meeting with the Homeless Services arranged for the following day. Both offers were refused.
