A Wicklow couple who netted a cool €250,000 on Lotto Plus 2 had to fish the winning ticket out of a rubbish bin.
The lucky couple, who won the prize on May 7th handed in a tea-bag stained ticket at the National Lottery HQ today.
They bought the winning ticket in Centra in Roundwood and only retrieved the ticket from their bin on the Monday after the draw after they heard that the winning ticket was sold in Roundwood.

One of the winners said : “I suppose we were so focused on the larger Lotto jackpot that we didn’t check our tickets properly.
“It was the following Monday when I heard that a €250,000 winning ticket was sold in the town.
“I remember saying that I had hoped that it would be a local winner – little did I know it was us!
“We knew that we had a couple of numbers in one of the draws so there was a niggling doubt about the ticket.”
The couple wish to remain anonymous and plan to spend some of their winnings on a party for close family and friends.
