Spanish ambassador visits Jonathan Swift NS in Dunlavin

Jonathan Swift NS this week hosted their Spanish school from Milagros, Burgos. Two teachers and six pupils visited and stayed with host families. A schedule of events was organised including a trip to Glendalough, Russborough and entertainment in the evenings with a ceili.

On Thursday 19th May the Spanish ambassador Jose Maria Rodriguez and his education officer Adolfo Carbon visited the school and were entertained by the children and local musicians Phil Callery (violin) and Philip Heak (uileann pipes).

Jonathan Swift NS will visit Milagos again in October. The exchange programme was initiated by Mrs Mary Tyrrell, Principal, to help with the teaching of Spanish in the school.

Supporters of the programme Councillor and chairman  Jim Ruttle, County librarian  Brendan Martin and director of services Michael Nicholson were also in attendance to greet the distinguished  guests and support the language and cultural exchange programme.
