St Patrick’s club notes week May 30th

Our Junior Hurlers have been busy with another fine win over Fergal Og on Monday Night in Dunbur. On Wednesday evening they visited Barndarrig where they won on a score line of 1-06 to 5-15. Our Junior A Footballers travelled to league leaders Laragh on Thursday evening. In a tough away fixture with a reduced panel, Laragh ran out winners on a score line 2-18 to 1-06. Scorers for St Pats: R. Marron 0-03 (3f) A Small 1-00 C McGettigan, J Pettigrew, S Bouchier 0-01 each. Thanks to the players who travelled because of shortage of numbers and fulfilled the fixture. 
A big well done to Coordinator Georgina Cruise, Ladies Chairperson Stephen McNulty, Coaches John Gerard McGettigan, Donal Marron and of course all the Gaelic 4 Girls on a brilliant 8 weeks of training. There was a great turn out each week. We welcome you all into the club.

We are very lucky to have a vibrant and active GAA community in St. Patrick’s National School. This week Mr Cuddihy, teacher of 4th/5th class and member of the Wicklow County hurling team organised a school blitz amongst the fourth, fifth and sixth classes.  Mr Cuddihy assisted with our own St. Patrick’s GAA coach Paul O’Brien, provides after school hurling to the students on Tuesdays. On Thursdays St. Patrick’s GAA club coaches Paul O’Brien and Johnny Carton coach Gaelic football after school on Thursdays every week to every student as part of their PE curriculum. 
Our U8 Hurlers train every Tuesday in St. Patrick’s National School at 6pm. This week’s Hurler of the week was U8 Eoin Mitchell – well done Eoin! 

Don’t forget to sign up for the Kellogg’s Cúl Camps! This year’s Hurling Camp will take place in Dunbur on 11th-15th July and the Football Camp on 25th-29th July. You can register at gaa.ie/kelloggsculcamps.

Congratulations to all involved in the launch of Brand Wicklow on Tuesday in Wicklow Golf Club especially our own Club Member Dave Shannon who was one of the key note speakers! It is time to believe Wicklow Town is a fantastic place to live, work, shop and play!

This Saturday, 4th June, the Club are holding a Bake Sale in The Mystic Celt in aid of the U14 Boys and Girls Féile teams at 10am – 12.30pm. All support is greatly appreciated.

 

The Club are organising a fundraising collection of recycled clothing with Liberty Recycling in aid of our two U14 Féile teams. We will receive €4 for every 8kg bag of recycled clothing received. Green plastic bags are available from the clubhouse. They can contain clean clothes, towels, blankets, curtains, bed linen, shoes, bags, hats and handbags, and extra plastic bags can be used if you have extra. The collection day will be the 18th June at the clubhouse, so get collecting!

Don’t forget to purchase your Wicklow Club County Development Draw tickets! All tickets must be returned by Tuesday 7th June. Approximately 75% of funds raised by our ticket sales remain with our Club. This has been one of our club’s major fundraiser over the past number of years. If we are to achieve our goals as outlined in our club development plan specifically additional playing fields we need to be very successful with all of our future fundraising  – your support would be greatly appreciated.

There was no winner of this week’s Club Lotto Jackpot of €4,350. Numbers drawn were 3, 5, 6 and 17. The bonus number was 21. Three people drew 3 numbers sharing the prize of €250; Gordon Vickers, Pascal Dowling and Alan Delaney.

A big thanks to everyone who supports the Lotto draws each week, both buying and selling tickets and our Saturday night sellers Dave Fitzgerald, Andy Reynolds, Philip Donovan and John Smith. For the weeks leading up to the Féile, a portion of the ticket sales are going towards both of our Féile teams with a team of lotto sellers going out each weekend.
