The organisers of the benefit night held on June 10th wish to thank everyone for making the so successful.  To our wonderful “Divas” who were absolutely brilliant and were such great sport.  Thank you to the G.A.A. club, The field committee, The Lotto committee and to Zanon Whyte for your very generous donations, they were much appreciated.  Thank you also to Albert Webster, Mary and Tom.  We thank everyone who donated the great raffle prizes a list of winners are in the local shops.

Active Retirement
Our trip to G.P.O. in Dublin will take place on Tuesday June 28th. The bus will depart from Lawless’ Hotel at 10.30am sharp. Please have €5 note ready for collection by Bridget on bus, this will pay for tour of G.P.O.  A visit to see the ‘Ferns Tapestry’ is arranged for Tuesday, August 9th– probably by car, depending on numbers, anyone interested in going should contact Bridget. As we will not be meeting again until Tuesday, September 6th we advise members to check Wicklow People where final arrangements for this trip will be published.  In the meantime we wish all members a sunny happy summer.

Cemetery Masses
The Annual Cemetery Masses and Blessing of the Graves will be held as follows:- Upper Macreddin Cemetery, Monday July 18th. Lower Macreddin, Tuesday July 19th. Rosahane Cemetery Wednesday July 20th.  All Masses at 8 p.m.

Lotto
The numbers: 3, 5, 9 and 20 were drawn in the Sports club lotto on Monday June14th.   Match three winners were: Niamh Kavanagh, Garrett Byrne, May, Oisin & Airin c/o May and Marion Clarke. The jackpot was not won.   The jackpot is €9300.

Market
Summer has definitely arrived and there was a great buzz at the Aughrim Town & Country Market last Saturday. Join us on Saturday mornings from 10am – 2pm at the Pavilion on Rednagh Rd. Enjoy a chat with friends in The Coffee Dock Cafe and take in the beautiful scenery around the lake. You will find a great selection of local produce from fresh meat & vegetables, farm fresh eggs, freshly baked bread & cakes, and jams & chutneys.  A lovely selection of hand crafted jewellery, stylish Aran knits and much more available at your local market.  For further information contact: Caroline at 086 0865838.

Community Games

Our U-15 girls soccer team were out last Wednesday and for their first time in community games they played a great game but bad luck in loosing out to Dublin. Thank you  Oisin for been a great coach. Good luck to The Liberties in Leinster and thank you for been great hosts!  The County Swimming Finals took place on Saturday and it was a great event. Congratulations to all our swimmers. First and fourth place went to Louis and Maya O’Driscoll and great swim by Molly and TJ Hynes. Our athletics training will be finishing up for the Summer until September. Thank you to all our children who participated, their parents who supported us and to our volunteers and coaches without you we wouldn’t have a club. Have a lovely Summer and be safe.

Citizens Information Bus

The Citizens Information Bus, which is fully accessible, will be visiting Aughrim – Main Street Aughrim (opposite Garda Station) on Friday the 1st. July, 2016 from 10.00am. to 12.00. noon.  Staff will be on hand to give information about your rights and entitlements.

 Sunday Sale
A special Sunday sale at the pavilion Aughrim on Sunday next June 26th   from 10 30 – 3 30 pm. There will be  bargains in books, toys, cosmetics and household goods  Thrift shop also open    Call in and be surprised.

Juvenile GAA
The U8 and U10 hurling teams played at the monster blitz in Ballinakill on Saturday last and played some great hurling to come away with some good victories. With some players away at the Feile it was great to get a turn out, so well done to all for making the effort. The Kelloggs Cul Camps is fast approaching , this is an action packed week of GAA activities, running from 10am to 2.30pm daily. You can book your child in to the Cul Camp on line  atgaa.ie/kelloggsculcamps and receive a new jersey, training top and backpack. The Aughrim camp is on from 25-29 July and is the best value for money camp around.  Costs are: 1st child €55, 2nd child €45, 3rd, 4th, 5th child €40 each. With over 100 kids attending this camp every year, this is the place to send your kids for a well deserved break during the summer holiday.
