Man jailed for car-jackings in Wicklow And Shankill

Gareth Farrell of East Coast FM reports a man has been sentenced to three years in jail for two violent car-jackings in Wicklow and Shankill.

32 year old David Thomas – of Glenties Avenue in Finglas – pleaded guilty to unlawful seizure of a car in Shankill in Dublin, on the 16th of April 2014.

He and another man pulled the victim from his car before threatening to shoot him.

They then abandoned the stolen vehicle on the N11 near Jack White’s pub in Wicklow, where Thomas stole another nearby vehicle by again pulling the driver out of his van.

He was previously sentenced at Wicklow Circuit Criminal Court for that car-jacking, and received a three year sentence with one suspended.

The same sentence was imposed on him yesterday for the incident in Shankill, which will run concurrently with the previous sentence.
