Carnew notes week August 29th

TINAHELY WALKING CLUB

There is no walk scheduled for Sept 4 as the club is embarking on its annual outing; this year to Donegal.

On Sunday Sept 11 the walk is in the Blackstairs (Grade B, 12k, 4 hours). Meeting in Tinahely at 10.00, or Bunclody car park at 10.45.

Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food & drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear.

 

LEAVING CERT

Congratulations to all students on their Leaving Cert results recently.

 

HOSPICE COFFEE MORNING

There will be a Hospice coffee morning on 15th September from 10am – 9pm in Ailish Walsh’s house, Donishal, Askamore, all welcome to come along and support this worthy cause.

HERITAGE CLUB

Carnew Heritage club are busy getting ready for their annual working day on Sunday 11th September on the usual lands on the Main Carnew Gorey Road, with all the usual events cafts, bread and butter making, colcannon, Pig on the Spit, harvesting of crops, tractor pulling and more, the theme this year is 4 x 4 cars and jeeps, there will be a barn dance on the Saturday night 10th in Kenny’s Barn with music by The Navvies and Irish music in the Lounge. Proceeds towards Friends of Local People with M.S. and local charities.
KNOCK PILGRIMAGE
There will be a pilgrimage to knock on 24th September, leaving Carnew Church  at 8am, Gorey church at 8.30am, there will be an over night stay, back on 25th, if interested in travelling please contact Marie on 0539426646 or 0872323966.

1916 PAGEANT – 7 MEN, 7 DAYS
The 1916 Pageant 7 men, 7 days will take place in St Brigid’s Hall, Carnew  from Wednesday 31st August – Saturday 3rd September  booking is essential on 0871429325 admission €10 

SOCIAL DANCE

A fundraising social dance will be held on Friday 2nd September at 9.30pm in Askamore, music by Blue Lace admission €8, supper will be served.

SOCIAL EVENING

A social evening will be held  on Saturday 3rd September at 8pm in Askamore Hall bar, why not come along and join us for a relaxing and enjoyable social evening.
