Community of Kilcoole to set up “Feet on the beat” neighborhood watch scheme

Gareth Farrell of East Coast FM reports members of the local community in Kilcoole are coming together to form a committee after a raft of break-ins in the area in the last few months.

The group calling themselves “Feet on the beat” will be calling to homes and businesses in the town this week, asking them to sign a petition calling for extra gardai, dedicated to the town.

The group says cars in particular have been targeted by thieves, with a number of vehicles stolen from outside homes in recent weeks.

Residents in Rathdrum will be holding a meeting this evening at 7.30pm at the RDA hall in connection with starting up a community alert text scheme following a large number of robberies in the town and surrounding areas.
