Fine Gael Wicklow TD and Minister for State, Andrew Doyle , has urged Wicklow householders to avail of the free scheme run by Irish Water designed to fix water leaks. New figures released by Irish Water today show that Wicklow households are already benefitting with 330 householders availing of the First Fix Leak Repair scheme.
“The First Fix Leak Repair scheme is a free service run by Irish Water and it is great to see that 330 Wicklow householders have already benefitted from it.
“Since the scheme was first launched in 2015, over 1,943 leaks were found in Wicklow and so there is still a lot of work to be done. The national metering programme estimates leakage of water at 37% across Co. Wicklow and so it is really important we tackle this problem. I urge householders across Wicklow to avail of this free scheme and have their leaks fixed.
“Over 1,900 households with leaks will have already received a letter from Irish Water notifying them of the problem and so I encourage them to take action by contacting Irish Water as per the instructions in the letter.
“It’s really important for householders to fix their leak before it becomes worse and we all have a responsibility to do our bit to conserve water, which is a precious natural resource.”
