Taekwon Do Classes

Why not try a new challenge & a new skill -Taekwon Do classes for Men, Women , Children & families every Wednesday 6.15pm  (4yrs- 7yrs )7pm Seniors (begginners & coloured belts)& Friday  7pm. Athletics training is back on Monday 3rd October at 7pm. Volunteers are always welcome and needed so please join in.

Avondale Voices

Press release September 2016.  Fresh from their recent, strong performance on Culture Night in the Dominican Convent, the members of Avondale Voices Community Choir are excited about starting a whole new repertoire for the coming year. This is a great time to join up, if you are not a member already!Come, sing, relax and have fun with us.  Membership is open to all and the choir always welcomes new people.  Rehearsals are held in Ballinatone Hall, near Ballinaclash from 7.30 – 9.30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Community Games

Our area Agm will take place on Wednesday October 19th at 8.30pm in the coffee dock in the Aughrim community sports hall. Please support us we won’t give you a job just let you know how great community games is especially in its jubilee year.


The numbers: 2, 11, 13 and 28 were drawn in the Sports club lotto on Monday September 19th.  The jackpot was not won.  Match three winners were: Jennie Grandy and Roisin Mann.  The jackpot is €3300.

Active Retirement

Next meeting will be held on October 4th at 10.30am at The Sports Complex Rednagh Road, our guest speaker will be a member of Arklow Fire Service who will give us advice on fire safety in the home. On 14th October  we plan to visit Goatsbridge Trout Farm Thomastown,Co. Kilkenny for tour and tasting. We will then go on to the Arboretum in Leighlinbridge for lunch and shopping. Further details at the October meeting.

Aughrim GAA

The club held their annual race night on Saturday last in Paddy’s.  It was a great nights entertainment and good crack was had by all in attendance. The club would like to thank all sponsors of races and anyone who bought  or  sold horses and helped out in any way .   We played Avoca in the Culleton  Cup on Saturday  and with a lot of lads unavailable due to other commitments  we put up a good performance  . The highlight was a spectacular  lob from Tom Forsyth that ended up in the Avoca goal .Well done  to everybody  who turned up on the day  and thanks to  the Avoca club for inviting us to play in their annual  tournament. On Friday last Luke O Toole’s  minors had a good win over St Kevins in Ballinakill  to  keep their good run going .Well done to all involved players and  mentors .

Autumn with all its bountiful produce has well and truly arrived. Do drop in to Aughrim Town & Country Market from 10 – 2pm every Saturday at the Pavilion on Rednagh Rd. Enjoy a delicious breakfast prepared by Valerie and Linda or a light lunch or yummy cake & coffee.  There is a great selection of local produce to be had including, fresh meat and vegetables, farm fresh eggs, freshly baked breads and cakes and delicious homemade jams and chutneys. A new and welcome addition to the market  is our very own ‘taste of Greece’ with delicious tzatziki, hummus and other delectable delights!  Our craft stalls and beautiful handmade jewellery will inspire gift ideas and you can stay warm with Aran knits and wraps as the weather becomes cooler. Do drop in and support your local market where a warm welcome awaits you.
