Blessington Lakes juvenile golf challenge ends in draw

The juniors from Blessington Lakes Golf Club drew their first ever challenge on Saturday 17th September against Baltinglass juniors with a score of two and a half points each.

This was a remarkable achievement for the Blessington Juniors aged between 8 and 12 years of age who have only started receiving lessons since the summer holidays under the watchful eye of golf coach Tom O Neill. Five boys and five girls were picked from both clubs to represent their respective teams and the day was an overwhelming success with great maturity and sportsmanship demonstrated by both teams.

Dympna Darby, Ladies Captain of Blessington Lakes Golf Club, commented, “The level of golf played by the juniors was quite remarkable. They really have come a long way in such a short period of time and we have to attribute this to coach Tom O Neills fun filled coaching lessons which has inspired many of the juniors to continue practising throughout the week. A draw was a fantastic result and I would also like to say a big thank you to the members and parents from both teams who took the time to walk the course with the children. We look forward to the return match and hope that our juniors can record their first ever win.”

Blessington Lakes Golf Club continues to welcome budding new golfers to their successful juvenile golf development programme each Friday at 5.30 to 6.30pm (Ages 8 to 12 years) and details will be appearing soon on the clubs web site of end of term golf camps and additional golfing lessons available.  / 045 867 146
