KARE Tractor Run
The 10th annual tractor run will take place in Tinahely on Sunday 2nd October 2016 at 12noon. Proceeds to KARE Local Service Tinahely (promoting inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities).
This fundraising event will start in Tinahely and will take a scenic route around the highways and byways of Tinahely.

Carnew Musical Society –
Stars in their Eyes
Carnew Musical Society will host ‘Stars in their Eyes’ in St. Brigid’s Hall, Carnew on Saturday 17th September 2016. This entertaining event will host representatives from a variety of local clubs and groups who will perform as their favourite act in the hope of winning the fantastic prize of €500 for their group. Tickets are only €10 and are available from Carnew Training and Development Centre as well as from Carnew MS Committee members and participating groups. Come along and join in the fun by voting for your favourite act.
Fiddler on the Roof rehearsals
Rehearsals for Fiddler on the Roof will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Carnew National School from 8-10 p.m. The ladies chorus has reached capacity but the society are still encouraging men of all ages to join. The show will be performed from Monday 21st – Saturday 26th November in St. Brigid’s Hall, Carnew.
The monthly bingo in Carnew will resume on Sunday 25th September at 2pm.
CARNEW WALKING CLUB
Carnew walking club meet every Thursday evening at 7.30pm at Carnew Training and Development centre please come along and keep this service going, there is no fee and you can walk at your own pace.
Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Kitty Mulroe, Tombreane who died during the week, her remains were removed to Carnew on Friday morning for 11am mass and burial took place in Tomacork cemetery.

SPLIT THE POT
Scoil Aodan Naofa Carnew has resumed their fund raiser Split the Pot and the winner was Kenneth Cullen winning €213, congratulations. Tickets are on sale from the school and all local shops, many thanks for you support over the last yea and look forward to your continued support for this year.
CARNEW DAY CENTRE
Carnew Day Centre are holding a 6 week Healthy Eating Programme commencing on Monday September 19th from 2 – 4.30pm. Learn to read food labels and how to cook balanced meals, courses will include theory and practical cooking in Day Centre Kitchen. To book your place please phone 0539426510.
There will be a coffee morning on this Thursday 15th September in Eilish Walshe’s house Donishal from 10am – 9pm, all welcome to come along.
FAMILY FUN DAY
There will be a family fun day in Ballyroebuck on this Sunday 18th September at 2pm with bottle stall, wheel of fortune, cake stall, handbag, jewellery and fascinator stall and much more, underage tournament and the 1976 hurling team will be honoured on the day, admission only €2 children free, all welcome.
Have you been touched by suicide? Have you lost a member of family and you are finding it hard to cope? A meeting will be held on Friday 16th September at 8.30pm in Carnew Enterprise Centre, members from the Samaritans along with others who know exactly what we have been through will be in attendance to help. This is open to anyone who would like to attend.
CARNEW CREDIT UNION
Do you have some spare time available to you? Would you like to become a Director/Volunteer Committee Member of Carnew Credit Union? Carnew Credit Union has been in existence for nearly 50 yeas now serving the local community and surrounding areas. If you are 18 years or over and a member of our Credit Union and you would like to be one of our volunteers that are vital in taking a hand in continuing that success story why not give us a call?
As the year end is fast approaching the Nomination Committee are currently seeking expressions of interest from anyone interested in becoming a Board Director or other Volunteer Committee member.
Successful candidates for positions on the Board of Directors will be elected by secret ballot at our Annual General Meeting later in the year.
CARNEW HERITAGE CLUB
Carnew Heritage club would like to say a very big thank you to everyone who helped in anyway with their annual working day and Barn Dance back after a few years break, to all who helped getting ready, on the day, parking cars, directing traffic, on stalls, tractor pulling, 4×4 cars and jeeps, thrashing, cutting, the steams engines, the bread and butter making, the Hillbilles for making burgers, sausages, colcannon and having lots of hot water when needed, the tea tent, all who made sandwiches, made and bought cakes, all who got the potatoes and veg ready, the Byrne Bros for the sound, Liam Fanning for doing MC, the music, and clearing up afterwards it was very much appreciated and a sincere thank you to all. This was our 12th event and thank god the weather held up, it was a bit windy at times but it was a good day and dry underfoot.
