50th Birthday Celebrations

St. Kevin’s Community College will celebrate its 50th birthday this year. It is proposed to have a celebration on Saturday  November 19th at 7pm in the school. A meeting will take place this Thursday September 8th  at 8pm in Burke’s lounge to form a committee to organise the event. Anyone interested in getting involved is invited to attend. Dunlavin Flower & Garden Club – “AUTUMN GLORY” a demonstration by Avril Maher will take place on Wednesday, September 14th in Jonathan Swift Hall at 8pm. Please come along and bring a friend!  Supper will be served.

 

Irelands Biggest Coffee Morning – will be held in the Dunlavin Parish Centre on Thursday, September 15th from 10 – 12 noon. Please come along and support this worthy cause, cakes will also be gratefully accepted. All monies raised will go to St. Brigid’s Hospice, The Curragh.

 

Westside – are having their A.G.M on Tuesday 13th of September at 8.30pm in the Donard hall. New volunteers and mentors are needed for Westside to continue in the community games. All welcome!

 

U6/U8/U10 Football Training – on Mondays at 6.30-7.30pm in Dunlavin GAA Grounds. New members always welcome. A clothes collection is now taking place – If you have used or unwanted clothes we are accepting donations every Monday evening from 7.30pm in the clubhouse.

 

St. Nick’s Ladies GAA Club – Congratulations to the ladies on winning the Junior County Final last Sunday. They final score was St. Nick’s 7-14 An Tochar 3-11. Thank you to everyone that showed their support.

 

Dunlavin’s Friendship Club – will be back on Friday, September 16th at 2.30pm. Please tell family and friends. New members welcome.

Our Lady’s Island Closing Pilgrimage – to Co. Wexford will take place on Thursday, 8th September. Bus leaving Centra Dunlavin at 4.30p.m. Contact Mary on 0876619545 for more information.

Dementia Care Workshop

Course

Beginner/Improver Computer Course – one morning a week in St. Kevin’s, run by the Blessington Further Education Centre. Open to adults who didn’t complete their formal schooling. For further details, contact Annette 0868462771 or Caroline 045451494.

 

Good Wishes

Good wishes go to Helen Kearney as she sets of to Rio to participate in the Para Olympics next week. Helen will compete in the Equestrian Dressage Competition.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Dr. Mary Kearney on her retirement after 35 years of practice in Dunlavin, may she have many happy years of retirement.

 This year’s Flower and Harvest Festival will take place the weekend beginning Friday, 4th November.

Dunlavin Scout Group

Dunlavin 1916 Centenary pins: Beautifully designed pins are now available to buy for only €3 each or 2 for €5. The design is based in the 1798 monument on Dunlavin Green. Cancer Support
