 Murphy’s Cho’s Tae Kwon Do School Carnew takes place every Mon & Wed Night.   Venue: Carnew N.S. Mon Times: Junior Class:  Age Group 4 -8, Time: 6.30-7.15.  Senior Class: Age Group 8 upwards.  Time: 7.15-8.15.  Wed class: 7.15-8.15.

Come and join us and see what this sport can offer you.  Martial Arts Training is a fun way for you to keep fit, while learning a new skill.  It can be something you do as a family, we have parents train with their children.  Beginners can join at any time throughout the month or year, all ages welcome.   First Class is Free to all new students.  For further Information Contact: Instructor Trish Murphy (5th Degree Black Belt) (087) 6390370.

SYMPATHY

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Dehila Cummiskey, Drummin, Clonegal who died during the week, her remains were removed to Carnew on Monday for mass followed by burial in Tomacork cemetery.

SPILT THE POT

The winner of the Scoil Aodan Naofa Carnew Split the Pot was The staff in Carnew winning €264.

KNITTING FOR THE COOMBE HOSPITAL

The collection of blankets, booties, hats, mittens for the Coombe Hospital will take place in Carnew Community Care at 3pm on Wednesday 9th November. A big thank you for all those knitting/crochet for this worthy cause. All items can be left into the Community Care before that date, all welcome to attend for the presentation.

CARNEW AND DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL SHOW SOCIETY

The Carnew and District Agricultural Show Society met recently to discuss the future of the show. Help is what is needed if the show is to run in the future, it was decided to hold a public meeting in The Corner House Carnew on Monday 7th November at 8.30pm. Please come and offer your support to get the show on the road again. It was agreed the show is an important event in the Carnew area.

TINAHELY WALKING CLUB

On Sunday October 23 the walk is the Sean Linehan Walk, Aughrim (Grade B 12k, 3 hours approx). Meeting in Tinahely 10.00 or Aughrim at 10.30.

Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food & drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear. 

TOMACORK CABARET

The annual Tomacork cabaret will take place on Friday 11th November in Coollattin Golf Club, admission €5 all welcome to come along to a very enjoyable night.

SALE OF WORK

The annual sale of work will take place on Friday 28th October in Colaiste Bhride Carnew at 7pm with the usual tea, bottle stall, vegetables, cakes, raffles and much more, all welcome to come along.

BINGO

The next bingo will be on 23rd October at 2.30pm and 6th November, many thanks to everyone for their support to date.

CHARITY MUSIC CONCERT

There will be a charity music concert on Friday 4th November in Black Toms, Tinahely with music by Mack – Fleetwood, Feel the Pinch, Surreal Audio and Mary Graham, doors open at 8pm concert starts at 9pm, all proceeds will go towards the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust donations can also be made on line at www.gofundme.com/2sh1104 Tickets are available from John Somers, Susanne O’Sullivan, Gavin Nolan, Victor Young’s and Una Somers Butler, all support welcome for this very worthy cause.

GAA LOTTO

There was no winner of the GAA lotto numbers were 10,12,15,25, lucky dips were Will and Don Kenny, Corner House. Liz Collins. Trevor Walshe, Glenview and Don Hyland. The next draw is 24th October and the jackpot is €3,200, tickets only €2 from any player or local shop, your support is greatly appreciated.

HURLERS

The senior hurlers drew with Bray on Sunday in the final, score 1-09 to 12 points, best of luck in the replay on this Sunday 23rd October at 2pm in Aughrim. A sincere thank you to everyone involved and anyone who helped in anyway during the year, special thanks to all who sponsored items or donated in anyway especially Hillard Civil Services, The Lodge, Carnew Winners Enclosure, Niall McCrea, Sinnotts, McCrea’s, Corner House, Gardiner Grain and all other business.

KILRUSH DRAMA GROUP

Kilrush Drama group present their play Trad from 18th – 22nd October at 8pm nightly in Ballyroebuck Hall, booking is essential by phoning 0871429325, admission is €7 family rates apply, the cast include Maurice Ruth as the son, P.J. Arthur as the Da, Magaret Nolan as Sal and Jos Dowse as Father Rice, director is Mick Byrne, this is a  hilarious and very clever new play, all welcome.

BIRTHDAY

We wish a very happy 80th birthday to Fr Barry Ffrench Askamore, mass will be celebrated on Sunday 23rd October at 11am followed by refreshments in the hall, all welcome.
