CARING FOR CARERS TRAINING COURSES NOW ON
FOR THOSE LOOKING AFTER PEOPLE LIVING WITH DEMENTIA AT HOME
Courses are being run by Saint Joseph’s Shankill.
Courses will be run over one day or two evenings.
Day Courses
Saturday 29 October 9.30 am to 4.00 pm
Friday 11 November 9.30 am to 4.00 pm
Evening Courses
Wednesday, 12 October and Thursday, 13 October, 2016
7.30 pm to 9.30 pm
Courses will offer support through knowledge and information.
Respite services available to allow carers to participate.
Training is free of charge.
Courses will include:
Information about dementia.
How best to communicate with someone living with dementia.
How to manage your stress and worries.
Where to access support, services or help.
Courses will be divided into male and female groups.
Training will provide dementia specific training.
Carers will gain deeper understanding of feelings and needs of people with dementia.

Greystones Archaeological & Historical Society Talk
Kilian House Family Centre; 8:00 p.m.
Wicklow historian, Joan Kavanagh, will give a talk on:
Van Diemen’s Women: A History of Transportation to Tasmania
Joan’s 2015 book on this subject, written in association with Dianne Snowden, focuses on the 138 women and their 35 children shipped out to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) in 1845.
Particular reference is given to Eliza Davis, transported from Wicklow Gaol, having been reprieved from death on a charge of infanticide.
€2.00 charge to cover costs.
All welcome to this most fascinating talk.

Irish German Society of Co. Wicklow AGM

The Society is part of the very successful twinning partnership with Wurzburg.
The partnership had been running for over 20 years.
It promotes visits back and forth between Co. Wicklow and Wurzburg.
A group of Wurzburg German visitors will visit Wicklow 29 October to 2 November.
