St Patrick’s club notes October 17

Our “Little Warriors” finished up for the season where they were presented with medals and certificates after training. Well done to all the kids who took part since last March, and enjoy the break! Our “Little Warriors” nursery programme caters for boys and girls aged 4-6, and is kindly sponsored by our local Gallagher’s SuperValu.

Many thanks to Robbie and Laoise from SuperValu who attended our presentation, and to our coaches, Triona, Siobhán, Heidi, Ian, Willie, and Alan.

Hard luck to our Senior hurlers who were unsuccessful in the Dessie Murphy Cup Final with Glenealy in Pearses Park, Arklow on Saturday. At half time there was a point between the teams with St Pats trailing by 1-08 to 2-04. Andy O’Brien completed his hat trick in the second half but it was not enough as Glenealy prevailed on a final scoreline of 2-14 to 3-09.

Our Senior Ladies and Tinahely produced a wonderful display of football with fantastic scores and movement in a most enjoyable league final in tough conditions in Ballinakill on Saturday evening. Tinahely were victorious on a Final scoreline of Tinahely 2-16 St Patricks 3-03. Thank you to the supporters of both clubs for the great support and respect afforded to the teams on the night.

Congratulations to our ladies chairperson Stephen McNulty who took charge of the Ladies Senior Club championship Semi Final between Foxrock Cabinteely (Dublin) and Sarsfields (Laois) in Bray Emmetts grounds last Saturday.

Congratulations to Daragh McEvoy and all in Stradbally on stopping Port Laoise in their quest for 10 in a row with a goal in the final seconds in the Laois SFC Final on Sunday. Full Time Stradbally: 2-10(16) Portlaoise: 1-12(15)

Congrats to Austin O’Malley and all the O’Malley’s who were recently victorious with Louisburgh in the Mayo JFC final. Full time result; Louisburgh 0-10 Balla 0-9.

Well done to Casey O’Brien who managed Carnew to a draw with reigning champions Bray Emmetts on Sunday.
