The Arklow Lions Club Christmas Appeal commences this week with the RNLI and many more local charities set to benefit.
This weekend the Lions Club will kick off with their annual Food Appeal in Tesco on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th, followed by Supervalu from December 8-10th and Dunnes Stores from December 16-17th.
The Arklow Lions Club Little Christmas Ladies Lunch will also take place in the beautiful setting of Arklow Golf Club on Wednesday January 6th – Little Christmas Day – at 1pm.
Little Christmas is traditionally a day set aside for women while the Irish men take on all the household chores.
“We are calling on the women of Arklow to come celebrate Little Christmas with friends, sisters, mothers, grannys and aunts,” said Arklow Lions Club member and event organiser Imelda Riley.
“We hope all local ladies will use this occasion to treat, pamper and help celebrate the Irish tradition that is Women’s Christmas.”
Tickets can be purchased at Abbey Flowers, Main street, Arklow or by calling Imelda 0872809171 or Carmel 0868284064.
Tickets for the famous Gallon of Whiskey prize draw in aid of St. Colman’s Residential Care Centre will also be on sale around the town from this week forward. The winner will be announced in The Old Ship on December 19th.
The annual St Stephen’s Day charity swim is a fundraising event held at South Beach or the Cove depending on the weather starting at 12 noon.
Sponsor cards are available from any Lions Club member.
Arklow Lions would like to thank the people of Arklow for their continued support at this time of the year and their help that supports their community.
