Carnew notes week November 21

On Sunday November 27 the walk is at Annagh Hill (Grade B 9k approx, 2.5 hours approx). Meeting in Tinahely at 10.30 (or 10.45 at the Gap). On Sunday December 4 the walk is at Mullins (Grade B 12k approx, 3 hours approx). Meeting in Tinahely at 10.30. Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food & drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear.

Carnew and District Agricultural Show Society’s recent public meeting on Monday November 7th to new seek volunteers and support for the shows survival was well attended with many new volunteers coming forward.  The 2017 show will take place on Saturday 15th July 2017.

The shows AGM will take place on Monday 28th November at 8pm in Kenny’s Longue Corner House, Carnew.                     

All are welcome to attend this AGM in particular anyone who could not attend the public meeting held on November 7th but who wishes to volunteer their help and support to the show.

 

Carnew Camogie AGM

Carnew Camogie Club’s AGM will be held on Tuesday, 22 November at 8pm in Hogan’s The Lodge.

 

Fiddler on the Roof

Carnew Musical Society’s 50th production Fiddler on the Roof opening in St. Brigid’s Hall, Carnew on Monday night next the 21st of November and running until Saturday the 26th .   . You don’t need to be a “Rich Man” to enjoy a fabulous night of Musical theatre, so don’t miss this powerful and moving production which includes instantly recognisable favourite songs including, Tradition, Sunrise Sunset, Matchmaker Matchmaker, To Life, The Sabbath Prayer and of course that iconic tune If I were a Rich Man.

Please note as and from the weekend of 26th November masses will be in Askamore on Saturday evening at 6pm, Sunday morning 11am, Kilrush Saturday evening 7.30pm, Sunday 9.30pm.

27th after mass in the hall frocks and cakes, Sunday style for under a tenner and cakes, 28th Last man standing – ongoing fundraiser. Monday 28th first rehearsal night in the hall, Dec 4th Santa dash 12 noon, 5th card drive in the hall, 9th table quiz, 11th Fooige event in the hall, 16th childrens disco at 7.30pm, 26th Sliabh Bhui walk Stephens Day at noon, 26th Social dancing in the hall. SPLIT THE POT

The winner of the Split the Pot of Scoil Aodan Naofa Carnew was Kathlean and Ann Molloy winning €195. Tickets available from the school and local shops.

 

WALKING CLUB

Carnew walking club meet every Thursday evening at 7.30pm at Carnew Training and Development club, all welcome to come along.

Carnew Day Centre is holding a flower Arranging Night “The Magic of Christmas” with Frances, Betty and Paula on Wednesday November 23rd at 7.30pm admission €7
