35-year-old Wicklow man charged with four counts of attempted murder

A 35-year-old Wicklow man charged with four counts of assault causing harm to his four children last June, has appeared before a Special sitting of Wicklow District Court today.

Stephen Harnett was arrested this morning at his home in Blainroe by Garda Neil Doyle of Wicklow Garda Station.  He was taken to a special sitting of Wicklow District Court sitting in Bray.

He had been on bail having been previously charged with 4 counts of Assault Causing Harm.

On the directions of the DPP he was further charged today prior to the court with 4 counts of the attempted murder of his 4 children who range in age from 3 to 11.

He was remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison to appear in Cloverhill Court on Thursday 17/11/16.

It is expected that an application will be made to the High Court for bail next week.
