Our Senior lads wrapped up the long season with a visit to our neighbours Rathnew on Saturday afternoon to complete their league fixtures. In an entertaining game in ideal conditions for this time of the year a large crowd attended in Merrymeeting. Just before half time having scored a point from the right, Padge skipped by two Rathnew players to force a save from Peter Dignam and the rebound fell to Padge who dispatched the ball to the net for a one point lead at half time. With both sides playing good football St Pats tried hard but finished on the wrong side of 1-08 to 1-14 scoreline. We wish a speedy recovery to the players injured on the day Warren Kavanagh and Andrew O’Brien from Rathnew and our own Donie Fitzgerald.

The U14 lads headed to Roundwood for the U14A Football Harry Leonard Memorial Shield semi-final v St Nick’s in Baltic conditions. St Nicks opened the scoring after ten minutes. Dylan Kavanagh got Pats on the score board with a fine point. It was a very even match in the first half, with Pat’s leading at half time 1-03 to 1-02. Fionn Luddy grabbed a goal and a point each came from Padraig Cahill and Jack Fox. With a strong team talk at half time Pat’s went out determined. However, St Nicks started brightly scoring 2 goals and three points. Pat’s dug deep and fought back from a 7 point deficit at one stage to level the match with only minutes to go. The luck swung Nicks way and they popped the winning point with the final score 3-08 to 3-09. Scorers for Pat’s Fionn Luddy 1-0, Dylan Kavanagh 1-02, Padraig Cahill 0-01, Jack Fox 0-02, Matthew Ryan 0-01 and Jack Meaney 1-01. What a fantastic team performance. The management team are proud of each and every one of these lads as they have come together as a team and played some fantastic football throughout the season. What an honour to bring home an All-Ireland Feile medal earlier on in the year. Thank you to the parents and each player for your commitment this year. The future is certainly bright in Pat’s football. See you all next year, from the management team of Paul Fox, Barry Cahill, Padge McWalter and Patrice Evans.
