T.D’s John Brady, Pat Casey and Simon Harris and Wicklow Councillor John Snell met with residents from Laragh and the surrounding area on Thursday at Leinster house in an effort to save Laragh Post Office.
Simon Harris said “I am delighted to have received confirmation from An Post that they will reopen the consultation process for Laragh/Glendalough Post Office.
I had written to them to express my concern about the fact that the local community were not consulted properly. I asked that An Post reopen the consultation process to allow the community to get involved and make submissions of interest.
I met with local residents who came to Leinster House today and I think it is unfair to close a post office without hearing from the people who will be affected. This is good news – it is an opportunity to save the post office. We need a longer consultation period and I will pursue this with An Post. I am eager to support anyone who is looking to take over and run the post office.”
