The first agreement for the Roundabout Sponsorship Scheme for Arklow Town was signed recently the Cathaoirleach of Arklow Municipal District, Cllr Pat Kennedy, and Ms Yvonne O’Sullivan, Marketing Manager at Bridgewater Shopping Centre.
Expressions of Interest were sought from businesses and organisations in October which would allow sponsors to contribute towards the development and upkeep of roundabouts in the town. Each successful sponsor will be entitled to have advertising rights on the roundabout.
Cathaoirleach Cllr Pat Kennedy said: “This scheme offers an excellent promotional opportunity for businesses and organisations providing the sponsorship along with improving the appearance of the roundabouts for the town”.
Ms O’Sullivan added: “Bridgewater Shopping Centre are delighted to sponsor the Bridgewater Roundabout and to give something back to Arklow town. We have landscaped the roundabout and installed power, we will be erecting a new feature seasonally and will ensure to maintain the roundabout throughout the year.
“We look forward to working with Arklow Municipal District on other future schemes which will help benefit Arklow town. Currently Bridgewater Shopping Centre employs circa 500 people making us one of the largest employers in the South East region and with 90% of employees from the Arklow catchment area. There are over 40 fashion, food and lifestyle store, including Dunnes, TK Maxx, Next, Euro2, a food court and a cinema.”
A number of other Sponsorship Roundabout Agreements will be entered into in the coming weeks by Arklow Municipal District.
