The sympathy of the Club is extended to the Fanning Family of Birch Hall, Aughrim on the untimely death of Mary RIP. A good turnout of players was at our first training session of the season on Saturday last.  Training continues on Tuesdays and Saturdays.  Club membership fees are due now from all for the coming season.

Presentation to Des

Des Burton has been helping with coaching of juveniles in Aughrim GAA club for more than 30 years.  For the past twenty years he was coaching in Sacred Heart National School on a weekly basis. Des retired recently and was the recipient of a presentation from Aughrim juvenile GAA club at their recent annual general meeting.  The citation on the plaque which he received reads “ For your generous commitment of time, support and inspiration to the children of Aughrim GAA club over the past 30 years”. Richly deserved Des.  Incidentally Des’s son Ronan who now lives in Sligo was on the panel of the Calry/St. Joseph’s junior hurling team who won the Sligo and Connacht club championship.  They were due to play in the all Ireland quarter final in Tullamore last Sunday. Chip off the old block.
