New to You Charity Shop

New to You charity shop, helping towards the upkeep of the Pavilion, Fishing Park and village of Aughrim.   We are appealing for donations of saleable goods – bric a Brac, clothing, small pieces of furniture toys etc.  If you have something that you have no further use for but feel it would suit someone else please donate.  Our opening hours are 10am – 1pm and 2pm to 4pm Monday to Friday and 10 – 2 on Saturdays.   Thank you.  Aughrim Tidy Towns.

Macreddin Cemetery Meeting

A meeting to discuss the upkeep and maintenance of lower Macreddin cemetery will be held in O’Toole’s Main Street, Aughrim on Thursday January 19th.  at 8 p.m.  Anyone interested is welcome to attend. Councillor Pat Kennedy will be in attendance.

Active Retirement

Thanks to Louise Curran for demonstration of Chair Yoga which went down very well with our members. Classes will begin on Tuesday January 17th. at 10.45am in the Sports Complex.  If you wish to join please let a committee member know before then. Election papers have been distributed, please complete and return to Margaret Brady or Anne Thornton by January 14th.
The season is getting closer to starting again so we are looking for all players interested in playing this coming year to make themselves known to the committee. At present we are putting together a  management team for this year.  Membership is now due for all players and anyone interested in being a member of our club. .Membership can paid to any member of the committee.


Aughrim Town & Country Market will be back on Saturday January 14th from 10am – 2pm at The Pavilion, Rednagh Road. We wish all our customers and friends a Happy New Year as we prepare for a great year ahead and we look forward to seeing you all again.  Come early and enjoy breakfast with friends or have a little treat with tea or coffer. Fresh local produce available from farm fresh meat, eggs, homemade bread and cakes, jams, chutneys and healthy options too. There is also a selection of handmade crafts and warm Aran knits for the colder weather.  Do drop in where a warm welcome and catch up with friends awaits you.

Aughrim Sports Complex AGM.

The AGM of the Aughrim Community Sports and Leisure Association will be held in the Sports Complex on Thursday 16thFebruary 2017 at 8pm.

Yoga Classes
Yoga classes will be held at Aughrim Sports Complex on Wednesdays and Thursdays 8-9.15pm. Start dates January 11th & 12th. 6 week courses, price €60. Mixed levels, beginners welcome. Please text or call Yvonne 0876778733 for more details or to book a place. Spaces are limited.

Set Dancing

Aughrim Set Dancing classes resume after the Christmas break on next Thursday January 12th. at 8.30pm.Everyone welcome.


Pilates classes will resume in Aughrim Community Centre on Tuesday January 10th; 5:15pm, 6:30pm (beginners and improvers) 7:45pm (advanced), Wednesday January 11th, 10am (mixed). 6 week course €60, €12 drop in class.  Please contact Therese (087) 7731106 or email


The numbers: 5, 10, 14 and 19 were drawn in the Sports club lotto on Monday January 2nd.  The jackpot was not won. Match three winner were: Agnes Keogh, Tom Byrne, Joanne Stapleton and Alice O’Loughlin The jackpot is €5400.
