Councillor calls for full time cover ambulance service in Arklow

Arklow Municipal Councillor Pat Kennedy is calling on the Minister of Health to restore a full time cover ambulance service in Arklow.

His calls come after a man died only yards away from an ambulance station in Castlepark, Arklow on Tuesday morning.

The man collapsed and was treated by a local doctor along with the Arklow Community First Responders and members of staff from a nearby electrical shop.

Units from Wicklow and Gorey arrived at the scene but the man had been pronounced dead.

Councillor Kennedy said “What do you do if there is an emergency in Arklow on a Tuesday, I know this is not the first time this has happened, it is outrageous that a town the size of Arklow has to go a day without this life saving service.”
