Units of Dublin Fire Brigade are currently dealing with a massive gorse fire that broke out on the Dublin/Wicklow mountains earlier this evening.

The blaze broke out at the Tibradden area of the mountains near Glencullen and residents in the area reported a strong smell of smoke in at the air before the blaze took hold.
The fire is visible across Tallaght, Rathfarnham, Stepaside and Sandyford.

Dublin Fire Brigade said on their twitter feed that the fire, which is believed to have started shortly after 6 pm, was a substantial one.
“We’ve three pumps enroute to a gorse fire near Tibradden in the Dublin/Wicklow mountains.”
“They are currently attempting to access the fire, which appears to be in a remote part of the mountains.”
Fire officers have also advised anyone in the area who is worried about the smoke, which is being carried by strong winds to close their windows.
