St. Patrick’s club notes week January 30th

Congratulations to the County hurlers who had another fine win in their last group game in this year’s Bord na Móna Kehoe Cup against Trinity College in Éire Óg Greystones GAA Club. It was a winner takes all game for the Wicklow men who having lead at half time 1-7 to 0-9, finished 3-16 to 1-13 to earn Wicklow a home venue for the final next weekend. Well done to our own lads Eoghan O’Mahony, John Connors, Andy O’Brien, George O’Brien, Gerry Connors, Michael Connors, Christy Moorehouse and coach Michael Neary.

 

Congratulations to our own Niamh McGettigan who is Vice Captain of the County Wicklow Ladies football team. Well done to Niamh McGettigan and all involved with the team on their 5-16 to 0 -1 opener in the Lidl NFL Division 4 opener away to Kilkenny including our own Mick Kavanagh who is part of management. Next up for the Senior Ladies team on Sunday 5th February will be neighbours Carlow in the Lidl NFL Div 4 at Blessington at 2pm.

 

Well done to all who organised our St Patrick’s GAA Juvenile Ladies Presentation & Open Day in the Clubhouse Dunbur last Saturday. A big thank to our Guest of Honour Irish Olympian Fionnuala McCormack who presented the certificates and medals. Fionnuala took part in a questions and answers session from the Ladies and interacted with all in attendance. Thank you to the parents for the food. A wonderful time was had by all.

 

Congratulations to Kathryn Fox and DCW footballers who had a strong win over Baltinglass 4-12 to 2-3. They will now take on Carnew in the final of the post primary schools competition.

 

Congratulations to the St. Patricks National School All Girls football team who took part in their first football blitz in Greystones recently.

 

St Pats U14 Boys football (anyone born in 2003 or 2004). All U14s welcome every Sunday evening 6.00 to 7.15 for some fun games to get the season started in the clubhouse Dunbur. It will be in the hall so wear runners.

 

Hard luck to Austin O’Malley and all at Louisburgh GAA who were on the wrong side of 4-14 to 0-13 scoreline in the AIB GAA Football All-Ireland Junior Club Championship Semi-Final in Cusack Park, Ennis on Sunday. Darran O’Sullivan and Kerry Champions Glenbeigh-Glencar booked their place in the Croke Park final on 18 February.

 

The club currently has a limited number of custom half zip training tops in pink and blue with the LGFA logo available to buy, We have SIX only in each of the following 2 sizes ONLY:

St. Pat’s and the Camogie Association are running the very successful “Come Hurl with Me” programme for parent and daughters commencing on Thursday 9th February for 6 weeks in the hall, Dunbur. This is for girls born in 2007 / 2008 / 2009 / 2010. Helmets and hurls will be available on the night for those who are trying camogie for the first time! An information and registration night will take place in the Clubhouse on Thursday 2nd February from 7-8pm. For further details and if you would like to get involved please contact;

From January 1st 2017, mouth guards will be mandatory for all adult ladies footballers. OPRO have come on-board with the WGPA to supply mouth guards to all its members who play Ladies Football.

 

GRMA (go raibh maith agat) is the new GAA Membership Card programme providing benefits and rewards to GAA members. It is a ‘thank you’ or ‘go raibh maith agat’ for your involvement in your GAA club, engagement in GAA activities and attendance at games.

Registration for the programme is now open with benefits available from January 2017.

You will need a GAA membership number to join GRMA and receive a Membership Card. Please request your membership number at your club when you renew your subscription for 2017. New club members will receive their GAA membership number when their registration is completed.

Membership Cards will only be distributed to members who have signed up to GRMA online www.grma.gaa.ie. The programme is only available to adult members (over 18’s).

On the 9th of January, the Club Players Association (CPA) was officially launched in Ballyboden St. Endas, the home of the club football champions.  

Paddy Byrne of Ballymanus GFC  has been nominated as the ‘Wicklow Club Representative’, the role involves getting as many club people registered while also keeping clubs updated on progression of the CPA’s objectives. Paddy is trying to establish a committee within the county made up of a ‘CPA Champion’ from each club, Could you be our ‘Club Champion’? contact Paddy at patrick.byrne26@gmail.com

‘Gaelic4Teens’ Programme Day 1 on 25th February

 

The County Final of the Scór Sinsear (Senior/O.17) Performance and Quiz competition will take place in St Patrick’s GAA clubhouse on Friday 3rd March. The Performance (Ceili Dancing, Set Dancing, Instrumental Groups, Ballad Groups, Recitation, Sketch/Dramatic Group Act and Solo Singing) Final will commence at 8pm with the Quiz Final beginning at 9pm.

 

Best of luck to Pat’s supporter and player Megan Kelly and her boyfriend Aaron Kennedy who head off on their travels to Australia safe travels

St Patricks GAA Club have distributed the GAA National Club Draw tickets for 2017. Tickets are €10 each and there are some fantastic prizes on offer. Tickets (sold and unsold) to be returned to your County Liaison Officer by Monday, February 13th 2017. Please return your tickets to your relevant team manager as soon as possible. The draw will take place on 8th March 2017 in Croke Park. It is a great way to support your local club.

 

We had no jackpot winners in our Club Lotto this week! Numbers drawn were 2, 6, 18 and 28. The bonus number was 26.

We had no Match three winners.
Thanks to the weekly Club Lotto Sellers who give up their time to help raise funds for the Club. It’s greatly appreciated. The next draw is on Monday 23rd January in the Clubhouse. Make sure you buy a ticket each week and you could be the winner of our Match 4 prize €1,700 or Match 5 €10,000 jackpot!
