Church of the Sacred Heart Aughrim

Lent begins on Wednesday the March 1st..  Mass will be celebrated in Church of the Sacred Heart, Aughrim
at  Ashes will be blessed and distributed after Mass.  Mass will be celebrated every Tuesday commencing the 7th. March at in this Church during the holy season of Lent.

Women’s World Day of Prayer

Women’s World day of prayer will be held in Sacred Heart Church, Aughrim on Friday March 3rd commencing at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome.


Come and join us in the Pavilion, Rednagh Road, every Saturday from 10am – 2pm. Fresh local produce available from farm fresh meat and vegetables, eggs, freshly baked bread & cakes, seasonal jams & chutneys and healthy options too. Community Games

Community Games season has started with our athletics training for the cross country and mixed distance which is been held on Monday 27th in Avondale.   A busy weekend for our local children in team events. Sadly our U11 and U14 Tag Rugby teams who met Westside in Donard GAA grounds for the County final in Wicklow lost out with Westside winning and gong ahead now to Leinster Kick off was at 4pm. They were entertaining games. On Sunday our U15 Boys team go to Roundwood for the County Badminton finals and playoffs start there at 3pm.  Good luck  to you all and enjoy the experience.  The County quiz takes place on Friday March 24th in Annacurra community hall. Four U 14 teams from each area can enter.

Yoga Classes

Yoga classes at Aughrim Sports Complex. Wednesdays and Thursdays 8-9.15pm.  6 week courses, price €60. Next course March 1st & 2nd. Mixed level, beginners welcome. Please text or call Yvonne 0876778733 for more details or to book a place. Spaces are limited.

Community Games

Congratulations to our U15 Boys Badminton team who won the County Wicklow Finals in Roundwood last Sunday and are now through to Leinster to meet Kildare. The schools are busy as the Art and handwriting has been circulated and will be judged at the end of March. Also Aughrim/Annacurra are hosting the U14 Table Quiz on Friday March 24th. in the Annacurra Community Hall.  Each area is allowed enter four teams but if we have a lot of interest we will hold area finals so get practising your questions.
As you know this year Community Games is 50 years old and our Co. Wicklow Golden volunteer is Mrs Lilly Kavanagh from Enniskerry. She has given almost 50 years to county and local community games. She needs your vote to get the overall Golden Volunteer of Ireland.  Please go to and cast your vote.  You can vote through Facebook and Twitter too.   Get any teenagers in schools etc and your friends to do it as well.  LILY NEEDS YOUR VERY VALUABLE VOTES.   Please, please  tell all Grannies and Grandads as well as Mammies and Daddies around the County to cast a very valuable vote.    We need all the support of Co. Wicklow behind this fantastic lady.

St Patrick’s Day Parade
Anyone interested in entering a float/group in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, please request an entry form from any member of the Aughrim Business Association, E-mail: or telephone 087 920 2751/0402 36655. We are also looking for anyone interested in performing on the day – dance groups, musical groups or marching bands.


The numbers:7, 10, 22 and 25 were drawn in the Sports club lotto on Monday February13th.  The jackpot was not won. Match three winners were: Billy c/o Eithne and Bobby Newsome. The jackpot is €6450.
