Gardaí uncover a cannabis grow house in Galway, following search of car at Sally Gap

Gardai have uncovered a cannabis grow house in Galway as a result of a car being searched at the Sally Gap on Monday night.

During the course of the search of the car cannabis herb with a street value of €2,000 was seized.

One man in his 40s was arrested and is currently detained at Wicklow Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 – Criminal Justice Act 1984.

In follow up searches at a premises at Farnaght, Corr Na Mona, Co Galway by the Divisional Drugs Unit attached to Galway a highly sophisticated grow house was discovered which had cannabis plants growing (subject to analysis) at a mature stage of growth.

The plants have an estimated street value of €450,000. Dry cannabis was also discovered (subject to analysis)

The house is sealed off for a forensic technical examination.
