Warning to motorists and pedestrians as winds batter county

Gardai are urging motorists to drive with caution this morning.

Debris and fallen trees have been reported around the county.

There is a tree down blocking the road between Newcastle and Rathnew.

Quinsborough Road has now reopened.

Power lines down in Newtown.

Tree down on the Miltown road in Ashford.

A tree is also blocking the road between Augavannagh and Aughrim.

Power outages in Little Bray, Greystones, Rathdrum, Ballybeg, Kilmartin (Newtown, Ashford) and Shillelagh.

A Status Orange Wind Warning is in place for Wicklow and surrounding counties until 9am with a Status Yellow Wind Warning in effect until noon.
