The 2nd Wicklow Garda Youth Awards took place on Saturday the 4th of February in the Grand Hotel, Wicklow town
The awards were sponsored by the County Wicklow Partnership and were hosted by Today FM DJ Philip Cawley.
For the next 15 days Wicklownews.net will post a picture and bio of one of the winning recipients, today we have Luke Power from Newtown.
Luke was nominated by Barry McGuirl and Ken Alcock of Newtown G.A.A. Club. Luke has established himself as a willing and positive influence on the younger generation of children attending the junior GAA club of Newtownmountkennedy. Luke has been a huge support to the running of the GAA nursery for the last number of years. He assists in preparing, running and entertaining children from the ages of 4 to 8 years old every Saturday morning for the majority of the year.
Without Luke’s consistent week in week out attendance, often first to arrive and last to leave the success would have been difficult to achieve. Luke is always in good form and great at motivating all ages.
Luke’s community is a better place because of what Luke does and his passion and commitment is testament to his character.
Luke recently commenced training to become a referee which highlights his long term commitment to the community.
