A free 5-week digital skills computer course is commencing shortly. This course aims to help citizens use the internet with confidence and provide the motivation and skills to reap the benefits of participating in today’s digital world. Topics covered include digital photography, online banking, online government services, email, shopping online and much more. Creative Local Heritage Project
Explore the local heritage of the Glendalough Valley and develop a creative response to what you discover. This skill-sharing, multi-disciplinary, group community art project invites local residents, interest groups and other interested parties to use their skills and knowledge to create and design a collection of artwork for exhibition purposes. The group will examine the archaeology, history, environment, society and culture of Glendalough from a creative and artistic perspective. To find out more, come along to the Centre from 7 to 8 pm on April 20th for the open evening hosted by the Community Education Service of Kildare Wicklow ETB. The project will be facilitated.
Traditional Basket-making Workshop
This full-day, traditional basket-making workshop will teach you basic basketry techniques. Taught in a relaxed learning environment, you will bring home your own completed small round willow basket (a skib). The workshops will take place in the Brockagh Centre from 9 am to 5 pm on 22nd April, 30th April and 6th May. Mindful Cooking Workshop
In association with Mindful Health and Health Life Balance, join Lorraine and Linda as they take you on a mindful, sensory journey in the kitchen showing you just how easy you can put together beautiful tasty dishes by developing a skill long lost in the kitchen, your intuition. Adventure Kids Wilderness First Aid Course
Do you want to learn how to be a wilderness first aider. The course will be in Brockagh Woods, Laragh on 8th of April. Community Games Art
The area stage of the Community Games Art for the Roundwood area (Roundwood, Laragh and Moneystown) will be held in the Brockagh Resource Centre on Saturday April 8th at 3 pm.
Children will have 1 hour (U8 and U10), or 1.5 hrs (U12, U14, U16) to complete a drawing, painting or cartoon based on a community games activity. They must bring any materials they wish to work with. Please contact Seamus Doyle on 086-8557962 to register participants in advance.
Happy Days baby and toddler drop in group is every Wednesday morning 10.30 -12pm at the Brockagh Centre(break in July and Aug). Come for a social morning with Crafts, Messy Play, Music and Activities such as teddy bears picnic, sing along song/storytime and of course light refreshments are provided. Tae kwon-Do for Youths and Adults
Teens and adults will enjoy Taekwon-Do, a Korean art of self-defence. Benefits include improving confidence, respect, discipline, awareness, concentration, channeling aggression, balance, coordination, speed, reactions, fitness and health.
