Murder accused lied to victims daughters

On the second day of the Wicklow town murder case, the court heard how Roy Webster lied to the victims daughters of her whereabouts.

Anne Shortall’s youngest daughter Emma told the court, her mother had left her home without her phone and she noticed a message on it from Ashwood Kitchens (a business owned by Roy Webster). It read” I’m at the Leitrim” a reply read ” Be there in 5 minutes”.

Emma called the number but it went straight to Mr. Webster’s voicemail.

Gardai questioned Webster over the phone the following day, he told gardai Ms Shortall was talking about going to London when they met on Good Friday.
