St.Patrick’s Day in Arklow

With just one day to go the committee for this year’s festival are working frantically to ensure Arklow is ready for another fantastic display of colour and celebration of St. Patrick’s Day in Arklow. Please come out and support what promises to be a great day. Thanks to everyone in advance who have taken the time out to be part of this year’s parade. Volunteers are most welcome to help out on the day, just call to Tommy Annesley’s “It’s Fresh” and give your name and contact number.

 

Grand Marshall for this year is John Summers representing Arklow Community First Responders, a vital service in the town of Arklow.

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade presents a great opportunity to showcase your business, club, society or group on possibly the busiest day of the year for Arklow. Celebrate our rich traditional cultures of music, song, dance and enjoy being Irish, and make it one of the biggest parades yet in Arklow. Businesses are asked to decorate shop windows for the weekend, with the Hickson Shield being awarded for Best Shop Window Display. Winners will be announced on Sunday night 19th March in The Bridge Hotel, Arklow at 7.30pm where everyone is welcome to attend.

 

Please Note : All Marching Groups to assemble on Mellow’s Avenue from 2.30pm on the day, Floats/Displays assemble on Yellow Lane from 2.00pm. Early arrival will facilitate organisation.

Route of Parade

The parade will start at 3.00pm sharp via Mellows Avenue, Navvy Hill, Abbey Street, Hudson’s Square and Main Street. Dispersal after the parade passes the platform at the Court House, Parade  Ground, with groups going up St. Mary’s Road and Floats continuing up town.  Categories: Float, Marching Group, Traditional Group, Commercial Display, Non Commercial Display, Agri/Horticultural Display. All are welcome.

 

Please obey all stewards and personnel on the day to ensure a healthy and safe day for everyone.
