Weather warning issued as temperatures set to plummet

Wicklow Weather have issued a weather warning for the next 72 hours with wintry showers of sleet and snow set to affect most of the country.

Temperatures are set to plummet from this evening with lows of -2 expected across the country which could effect the morning commute.

There is also a risk of minor to moderate snowfalls at lower levels in some areas.

The Aughrim based forecaster said : “Wintry falls will be hit and miss so early morning commuters should give themselves extra travelling time in the morning.”

There is also a risk of further wintry precipitation on Tuesday night with lows 0f -5 expected.

Motorists are also advised to avoid upland road networks over the coming days.
