Youth Services in Bray and Arklow to host presentations and Q & A sessions about ESB Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are back.  Currently ESB, Eir and Bus Eireann/Dublin Bus are all recruiting apprentices in different roles across the country.  Added to this, a number of new ‘occupational apprenticeships’ have been launched to compliment the traditional ‘Craft’ apprenticeships.  These include programmes such as the Accountant Technician Apprenticeship or Insurance Practitioner.
In response to an increase in the numbers of young people and parents enquiring about apprenticeships, YouthSpin the county Youth Information service, along with Bray Youth Service and East Wicklow Youth Service want to give young people and parents a chance to find out straight from Apprentices themselves how they work and what they have to offer young people.
Two talks/ Q&A sessions will take place in the coming weeks. The first takes place in Seomra Youth Centre in Bray on Thursday 23rd March at 7pm, and the second in The Vault Youth Centre in Arklow on Monday 27th March at 7pm.

Speaking will be Anne Gaskin-Roe, Apprentice Supervisor with ESB Networks, along with two current apprentices, one male and one female to reflect the increased number of young women taking up traditional apprenticeships.
The ESB recruitment closes on March 30th, so the talks are a great chance for anyone with an application in, or thinking about applying to get a better idea of what the job entails, or to ask questions that might be useful if they get to an interview stage in what will be a highly competitive recruitment stage.

Alongside the talks, YouthSpin as part of the Crosscare Youth Information team, has produced a ‘Guide to Apprenticeships’, which is available for anyone to download from their website. Hard copies will be available at the talks.
For further information about the talks, please contact Youth Information Officer Paul Murphy on 01 2050502, or by email at youthspin@crosscare.ie
